A Night of Triumph for CEDR's Mediators

Four individuals representing CEDR achieved success on the night:

  • Tony Allen: Recipient of the ‘Significant Achievement Award’.

Tony has been instrumental in the development of mediation since the 1990s, working closely with the legal community, judiciary and organisations like NHS Resolution. He has been a pioneer for the use of mediation to engage with and resolve some of the most challenging disputes in our society, including those relating to clinical negligence and personal injury.

He has also trained mediators extensively with CEDR both nationally and abroad and continues to be one of the leading legal commentators on the development of 'ADR' law.

Other Winners:

  • Frederick Way: Honoured as the ‘Civil/Commercial Mediator of the Year,’ Frederick’s ability to facilitate resolutions in civil and commercial disputes has earned him the respect of his peers and clients alike.
  • Felicity Steadman: Winner of the ‘Workplace Mediator of the Year’ award, Felicity’s excellence in navigating complex workplace conflicts has set a benchmark for others in the field.
  • Nikki Edwards: Recognised as the ‘Mediation Advocate of the Year,’ Nikki’s advocacy for the role and value of mediation has been nothing short of inspiring, highlighting the vital role of advocates in the mediation process.
What an amazing result from this year’s National Mediation Awards, which I think shows the richness of our field. Few can doubt Tony Allen’s contribution to mediation in the UK. Felicity Steadman’s dedication to mediation and training is always a pleasure to observe and Frederick Way’s development as a leading mediator bodes well for our field’s future. Congrats to you all.

Looking Ahead

Among the notable nominees was Shona Crallan in the 'Newcomer of the Year’ award. The nomination itself is recognition of her significant efforts and ongoing contributions to the field, and is a testament to the bright future Shona will have in the field of mediation.

For CEDR, the night was a proud moment of celebration, reflection, and motivation. The organisation’s commitment to fostering excellence in mediation was on full display, as its mediators continue to pave the way for more inclusive, effective, and impactful conflict resolution practices. Congratulations to all the winners, nominees, and everyone who contributed to making the National Mediation Awards 2024 a resounding success.
