A Tribute to Michelle Sadio

A Tribute to Michelle Sadio

This Thursday (30th January 2025) CEDR will say goodbye to a dear colleague and friend, Michelle Sadio, who passed away just before Christmas.

Michelle worked for CEDR for over 20 years playing a key role in the resolution of over 100,000 disputes between consumers and businesses as the team manager of our aviation and communications dispute resolution schemes.

Michelle was an incredibly hard worker with a difficult job to do, managing thousands of cases a year with a team of colleagues in the UK and South Africa. Michelle’s dedication shone through in everything she did, and though she often worked under pressure for long hours and had to contend with countless challenging situations, Michelle tirelessly gave support and assistance to consumers and businesses as they worked through their differences.

Michelle was a consummate professional known for her unfailing kindness, her infectious laugh, and the positive impact she had on her colleagues over two decades. She was a natural leader, who took the time to nurture relationships with everyone she interacted with. Her loss has left a significant void for us all both personally and professionally.

The CEDR family sends its deepest condolences to Michelle’s husband and CEDR colleague, Jean-Marie, their two children, and all their friends and family.

Tributes

Michelle was something of a superhero to me. A dedicated colleague with a difficult job to do, a hard-working mum of two, and a loving wife. Despite all the challenges Michelle had to deal with both professionally and personally she always had a smile on her face, and she always had time for other people. A great lady that we will all miss greatly."

John Munton, Director of Dispute Resolution Services

In life’s journey the people who have a lasting impact on you are those that are genuinely interested in you and your life and transmit a sense of empathy and humanity. Michelle was such a person, both in her interaction with our clients and particularly with her colleagues. The sense of loss we are feeling at Michelle’s passing is profound and she will not be forgotten.

James South, Chief Executive

"I met Michelle in 2014 when she interviewed me for my case officer role. I have fond memories of her warning me that my second interview with John and Tom might be quite eccentric. Michelle looked after me so much during my first days at CEDR and continued to do so even all these years later. She has always been there to listen and lean on when I’ve gone through hard times. She was always one for great advice! When she went on mat leave with Jeanelle and JM was managing me, he would always talk about Michelle, and I loved how much he loved her. I loved hearing about her children over the years and hearing about their antics. I am going to miss her so much. ❤ "

Our Michelle ✨ I can’t believe you’re gone. Struggling to find the words to sum up the last 17 years. We first met at IDRS in 2008 when I was just 15 years old and you loved to tell everyone how you’d known me since I was just a baby. Michelle taught me so much over the years & for that I’ll be forever thankful. Michelle wasn’t only the best colleague I could have wished for she was a role model, my biggest supporter, mummy friend, shoulder to cry on and everything else in between. I loved watching your relationship with JM blossom, from being at your wedding to watching your family grow, you two were truly made for each other. I’m absolutely devastated you’re no longer with us, you’ll be missed & loved forever ❤️"

"Michelle had an uncanny ability to brighten even the darkest of days with her smile and laughter. Her presence was simply undeniable. She was a remarkable blend of qualities: solid, loyal, understanding, hilariously funny, warm, empathetic, and incredibly down-to-earth. This unique combination of traits makes it hard to imagine anyone else who embodied them all so completely.

The distance has made this tragic loss even harder to bear. I've held her and her family in my thoughts and prayers every single day. I know her absence is felt most deeply by those closest to her.

I will forever cherish the memory of her vibrant, positive energy. And I like to believe that she would be comforted knowing that, though her departure is incomprehensible, she has left an indelible mark on our hearts."
